French Society for Orthopedic and Trauma Surgery

Presentation of the SOFCOT

The French Society for Orthopedic and Trauma Surgery (SOFCOT) is the French learned society gathering all the orthopaedic surgeons. It plays a key role in many fields:

  • training of residents, future orthopaedic surgeons
  • support university courses
  • trade union
  • representing the speciality to the ministry
  • organisation of the French annual orthopedic congress

The SOFCOT is the editor each month of Orthopaedics & Traumatology: Surgery & Research (OTSR) for disseminating scientific articles dealing with surgical techniques in orthopedics and traumatology. This title is the translation of the Revue de Chirurgie Orthopédique et Traumatologique (RCOT) in French.

The SOFCOT federates several « child-societies », each corresponding with an orthopedic specialisation, such as the AFCP.
